Former Assistant Chief of Police Terry Cannon has been appointed by the Greeneville Board of Mayor and Alderman to be the next Chief of Police. This announcement was made at the Board meeting on March 4, 2008. Chief Cannon's leadership will continue a tradition of professionalism and service to the citizens of Greeneville.
The Greeneville Police Department will no longer be able to provide locksmithing services to the citizens of Greeneville effective July 1, 2008. We have traditionally provided unlocking service free of charge as a service to our community when call volume allowed. Under a new law passed by the Tennessee legislature, 62-11-113, "...municipalities are prohibited from offering locksmithing services to the general public..."
